Working towards Sustainability at Bellairs with the OGCA

The Bellairs Institute located in Holetown, St-James offers opportunities for McGill Students to spend a semester in Barbados and to get involved in real-life projects connected to local organizations through several internship programs.

Working hard towards sustainability, the institute is committed to support the growing environmental movement in Barbados accross disciplinaries, and also to become an eco-friendly campus. Through their internship projects, students work to further promote the greening of Bellairs, for example through the realization of rainwater collecting systems, solar-powered onion driers, shade-house for crop production and local permaculture garden.

The Bellairs Institute has been supporting the OGCA for the past years for the project of the organic certification, and hosted several of their events and meetings.

Every year, Bellairs also give the chance to students to get involved with the OGCA for different projects, such as the sand quarry development, their website construction etc...
