The youth are the future
The OGCA is involved with many programmes aimed at the young people in our communities. There are school gardens with primary and secondary schools which is an enjoyable part of our outreach intiatives, in conjunction with Slow Food Barbados.

we also have been able to offer summer jobs to youngsters who have just left school and on their way to college and then we have our annual summer educational courses for youth in Agriculture with our partners at the Inter American Institute for Co operation in Agriculture IICA.
The Youth in Agriculture training programe has been able to double the number of young school leavers participating. A portion of their training includes farmer to youth mentorship and working with a farmer where their performance s independently assessed.
