Background and history of the farm

 

As a part of the collective of organic farms managaed by the Rasta Fari community of this area, Claw as he is known by his brethren, transforms part of this hillside farm into an oasis of organic fruits and vegetables.

 

Kinds of produce

 

General fruits in season, all year round producer of Moringa pods and leaves also produces Noni Juice and the best corn meal Conkies (A traditional local sweet vegetable treat made from corn meal, pumpkin raisins all wrapped an baked in banana leaves) on the island.

Why organic farming?

 

To fulfil his spiritual love for nature and a willingness to contibute to the health of family and community,  Claw chooses organic farming. It provides balance between humanity and nature in a positive manner.

 

Challenges

 

Monkeys and the snails are an ever present threat in this food forest area of the island. Creating the time to juggle his growing family of primary school and toddler with the farm, are a welcome and character building exercise.

 

Special practices

Permaculture techniques keep things growing as nature intends. Claw collects and produces Noni juice concentrate from the "Dog dumpling" trees around his farm.
