Background and history of the farm

 

Kevins father farmed the same 3 acre plotfor a number of years with Kevin taking over after his father passed away. Located facing the harsh easterly winds from the Atlantic, the farm overlooks the picturesque Consett Fishing bay and village. Kevins organic hideaway is one of a few in this area managed by members of the OGCA all of which are fed by the same freshwater spring.

 

Kinds of produce

 

watermelon, okra, pumpkin, banana,  coconut, Cassava, sweet potato, lettuce. Kevin incorporates some sheep

 

 

Where can you find his products

 

He mainly sells at Cheapside, fairs and events

 

 

Challenges

 

Pests (caterpillars), monkeys

 

 

Special practices

 

Kevin uses a specially adapted chicken manure tea system to boost the size of his popoular lettuce
