Permaculture Design Course offered to OGCA members
Five OGCA member farmers attended a 10-day course to obtain a Permaculture certification. The course was facilitated by a joint partnership between the Terra-Genesis International organization and Wa Samaki Ecosystems, a permaculture institute based in Trinidad. Interesting topics such as food forest planting, soil foodweb, ecobuilding, as well as hands-on practices were offered, such as composting, mulching etc.. Beyong ecological farming, permaculture principles teach us how to build up resilience on the farm, and create self-sufficient systems. The course ended with a real design of a 5-acre land by the sand quarries, following permaculture principles.
